Location: Neosho, MO
The transformation of the iconic 125-year-old HAAS building into a state-of-the-art STEAM elementary school seamlessly blends historical charm with contemporary functionality. Located in downtown Neosho, the 25,000 square foot warehouse, once a hub for wholesale grocery, has been revitalized into a multifaceted educational facility – the first of its kind for the Neosho School District. The school’s curriculum is centered around science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), reflecting a forward-thinking approach to education that prepares students for the demands of the 21st century. With 10 classrooms, a library, art and music rooms, makerspace areas, and specialized labs, students have access to a diverse range of learning experiences tailored to their interests and abilities.
Our team had just seven months to complete the project, which involved the complete gutting of a 4-story building. Additionally, the building is on the National Register of Historic Places, which meant the project had to meticulously preserve the architectural appearance and character of a structure dating back to 1898, while seamlessly integrating modern amenities and educational resources.
